SEO, Search Engine Optimization has been a pain in the web developers side for going on 10 years now. The entire point of SEO was to let search engines like Google, Bing & Yahoo help their users get better and, this is the key part, RELEVANT search results. When the entire concept of SEO got in to the main stream it seamed like you couldn’t go 10 meters without walking in to an “SEO Expert” or guru or whatever else.
In my humble option, if you find someone who calls them self a SEO/social media guru, run away. Far far away.
Want me to reveal how to get the best SEO in the world? Awesome content. Thats it, that is SEO.
Now let me explain that answer. At its very core, the search algorithm is looking for unique and up-to-date data on websites. There is no super-fancy coding required. All you need to do is set up a blog on your site and talk about your work on a regular basis and include some tags that search engines pick up on. Not only will you be benefiting your search rank, but you will also be proving to your client base that your business knows what it does.
What if your website is static and doesn’t have a blog? Well, the key thing will still be to produce great content, but in another way. Social media is the other side of the coin to a great website, and now it can help increase your search rank as well!
Around 2011 Google started to add, what they call, social signals into search ranking. To start, it was purely based on twitter but now encompasses all the other big networking sites as well, to some degree or another. All your interactions count for something, be it in SEO or not. How you leverage social SEO is by following the same rules you would use to make your social media presence great.
Content is king of your business online. Both on your own website and on social media, what, how, where and to whom you say your message to will greatly affect how your brand is treated. Remember there is no magic bullet in SEO only great content and hard work.
Making content that is engaging, informative and reliable should come relatively easy to you, I mean you are the expert of your own business! However, if you need a hand putting type to the screen shoot us an email!
